I've been told I should take more pictures

I get asked a lot by people who read my blog why I don't post more pictures of concerts. It's a very excellent question, one that I really didn't have a decent reply for. To be honest, I haven't been taking that many pictures of anything, probably due to my newfound reluctance to snap portraits of myself, but that's another story. I've been trying to get into the habit of bringing my camera with me whenever I go out, so hopefully it will be a semi-regular thing. Here's what I found as I looked through it for this post.

Asobi Seksu/Bash On Wabash/Sept. 5, 2010

This was my second time seeing them and I got a chance to hear some new songs from the album they just recently released. Once I found that they were going to be at this street fest in the South Loop, I knew that my Sunday night had been decided.

Gold Motel/Bash on Wabash/Sept. 5, 2010

Had never heard their music until I saw them live, but it was definitely a nice surprise. Just some good local indie pop.

The Detroit Cobras/Bash On Wabash/Sept. 5, 2010

Midnight screening of The Room w/ Tommy Wiseau/Music Box Theatre/Feb. 11, 2011

Going to midnight showings of The Room is one of my favorite things to do because of the energy the crowd always gives and the encouragement to show crude things in a movie theatre. This night was special since the movie's star/director/writer/producer, Tommy Wiseau, was in attendance. He was as eccentric as his movie was horrible.

Marnie Stern/Subterranean/Mar. 10, 2011

It's one thing to hear the math rock-esque rhythms being played on record, but it's another thing to see them live. Marnie's drummer kept my head shaking in disbelief for pretty much the entire time.

Teedra Moses/The Shrine/Mar. 26, 2011

I'm still not 100% sold on The Shrine as a music venue (too many sound problems, too much distance from performer), but Teedra overcame all of that to give a magnetic performance. I was pleased to hear pretty much all of Complex Simplicity and the cover of Prince's "Do Me Baby" slayed.

If you see someone at a concert playing with one of these, chances are it's probably me.
